Anyone get Farming to produce?

That sucks  it happened to me twice on Ginseng and NS.  Now I pluck them before I take pictures.

Why does the stuff revert to a lower form during the day, even when watered.  I ask yet again @Kyronix

Yes @ Kyronix those of us who water one time a day are not able to produce Mandrake Root or Garlic.  The plants will get to the second green stage and then revert to smaller, just like the pic above.

@Pawain ; I water several times a day and still not able to get MR or Garlic.  Tonight I noticed what may be Garlic and MR growing in someone's plot?

I'm jealous.  If possible could those post what time they watered?  (If they even post here)  I saw MR look like 2nd stage in the field SW of the field in above images.

It would help tons if there was a trigger time to water.

I was going to simply delete my seeds and replant only Nightshade and Ginseng.  But how do I do that?  @Kyronix ; Should we still wait and see if this can be fixed?  Or, just stop planting the problem seeds until you give us the go ahead?  But....how do we go about planting different seeds?  Anyway to trash the problem seeds?

    Thanks

I think 3 of us are using the same field and the guy in the middle part is watering very often. @Kalsey

I watered this AM.  My NS and Gar were able to be clipped and replanted.
I decided to re water the one on the corner to see if it will look different from the one next to it which I did not water a second time.

Yup the guy in the middle is watering often, the owner is a poster in this thread.

    Hello.
I am posting a growing record of this garlic.(the south plot of this picture)
But I got a cold in real life, so I couldn't go to the field much at night in the real world. Of course I didn't water during that time.
In fact, I grew garlic in two plot.
    A with more water.
B was grown without water from the middle of the season.
    The result was the same.
But I watered both of them right after the server maintenance.

Garlic has 22 Britannia days, so I think it was stagnant at the seed period.
I watered them ahead of time because I thought they would run out of water during maintenance, but if I hadn't, would the seeding time have been shorter?
Would it be better, by any chance, to sow the seeds right after maintenance?
That way, watering would only need to be done one cycle after maintenance?
I'll give it a try when I get over my cold and have more time.

Here are mine today, they look the same as yesterday.  NS and ginseng were planted last night, so they are fine.

    Hi,
The regular down time that I am aware of is 10pm Japan time.
In the US Central Time Zone, that would be 7:00 AM.
The server comes back up about 5-10 minutes later.

    @Kyronix

I watered plots/plants at 10 AM central this morning.

12 Noon Central check on plot, all had reverted to fist stage.  Believe it to be first stage, they are small dirt patches showing freshly planted seeds.

Any update as to what the findings are with farming?

    Thanks

I thank you for all your hard work.  It is very much appreciated, I do read your Wiki every other day.  Nice job and it helps much.

Do you think this thread should be moved to report bugs?  There is a lot of information that may help the DEVs trouble shoot the problem.

    Thanks

Like someone said, the devs need to plant the ones in question and water them once a day, in 6 rl days they will have no mature crops.

I know I suggested it once.  It may just be a simple fix, wish one of the DEVs would seed a plot.  It would sure help.

Here are my farms today, I watered the first plot and part of the second. the graphics reverted.
Harvested the Ginseng and Nightshade as usual.

Maybe @Community Manager could rent a plot, plant Mandrake Root and Garlic, water it one random time a day and see if she can grow them to harvest. Let the devs know the progress.  Thanks

Here's photos of the last few visits to the farm. I've already posted the photo from Saturday night where I could not water during the day due to work. I could only water once on Sunday night and again once Monday night due to work. Basically on my work days, which last from 14 to 16 hours each, I'm only able to water once. Sometimes I really don't feel like it, but if I don't I'll lose my plot.

First photo is Sunday night, harvested Ginseng and Nightshade as usual. Nothing else progressing
This photo from Monday night, same as previous night. Harvested ginseng and nightshade.
This from just a few minutes ago. Tuesday morning appx. 9:15 Eastern. Harvested ginseng and nightshade.

I'm not working today and will try to water often, but with real life obligations, won't be able to do it every 2 hours without fail. I'll try to make note of the times that I water and will post results later tonight or tomorrow.

Thank you to those who are participating in this thread. And I agree with the suggestion that if someone from the Broadsword team would just lease a plot and plant Mandrake or Garlic, they would have first hand knowledge and experience of what is going on. I would think they would have the tools to figure out what is or isn't working.

    @Community Manager    @Kyronix

Could we get some type of update on the status of farming?  Maybe even give us a way to discard the broken seeds so we can plant something that grows.

Possibly someone could look at the coding for Nightshade and Ginseng, use that coding for Mandrake and Garlic?  Yes, it would be a shorter grow time for MR and Garlic, however I think that is fair.

Or, just send the coding for all plants/seeds to the loop that works.

Please, most of the spots in my plot are stuck with broken seeds/links.  I am unable to plant and harvest seeds that grow.

Or even give us the pots from prodo so we can grow in those?

    Thanks.
  • PawainPawain Posts: 10,118
@Kyronix how much more do we need to post?  The only way to get MR and Garlic to produce is water it every 2 hours, see posts from Hotei.

I have watered daily since the season began.

OK I've kinda figured this out.

    1.  Don't plant cotton or Flax, you can get wool from sheep that are all over the place now,  Thanks!  I have sheared over 200 wool while farming just standing in this field.
    2. Ginseng and Nightshade take 1 RL day to go from plant to Harvest.
    3. My Gallic took less than a week to harvest.

    Here is todays Picture.
    1. is beginning today, (I watered a garlic.)
    2. is what they looked like after watering.
    3. Is what they looked like after harvesting.

    @Pawain

I was going back through the thread to see if there were any tips I missed.  Hate to ask this, but...do you remember how you got the garlic to grow at that time?  Like how often or times you were watering?

Also, I've never been able to get MR to get to the stage you have in the image.  Well, actually MR or garlic.

One poster gave the times he watered right after maintenance, I tried doing that but nothing.  There has to be some trigger that we are missing.

Can someone from the DEV team plant a plot....pease?

  • PawainPawain Posts: 10,118
That's weird  I see the pics but I don't recall harvesting Garlic. But I must have.  The MR never went to full plant like that Garlic in that picture.

I water one time a day.  Some times in the morning sometimes at night.  But always during that server up period.

Here is today:  I harvested the Ginseng and NS.  Garlic and MR are small plant graphic.

Yeah, same here.  Wondering if anyone has been able to harvest cotton this past week?

So, we just let our plots die out?  Looks like that is what a few others did.

Not sure how we'll find out if this is ever fixed.

I've been keeping track of the times and taking photos at each watering. I'll not post all the pictures I have because that is too much(20 pictures). I'll just post a few with the corresponding times and dates. All times are Eastern US times. I apologize if this post is very long. Had planned on more frequent and shorter updates. Trying to give as much information as I am able.

As noted by others, it looks like the folks working on the plots to my north just gave up and let their leases expire.

8:45am Harvest and plant Ginseng, Nightshade and... Garlic! Yay! Was very hopeful that the Mandrake would soon follow suit. Didn't replant the garlic as I saw that the season was changing in 4 UO days which would not be enough time even if things were working perfectly. May have wasted the Ginseng and Nightshade seeds as I replanted before checking the calendar.
2:30pm My hopes for the Mandrake have been shattered.
Not sure if I'll bother with farming after the seasons change. Any information from the devs would be welcome. Even if it's "We have no idea what is happening."
  • HoteiHotei Posts: 21
Well the seasons have changed and the leases have expired. I'm not going to renew my leases to the farm plots until we get a definitive answer on if the system is fixed. Or if there is nothing wrong with it, we are told what we are supposed to do to make it work. It took from the first day of Fall to the last day of fall to get any garlic. I did manage to harvest mandrake once, but I'm not sure what I did right to get that to happen. As you can see in the last photo, 2 of the plots that were planted on the first or second day of fall never matured to harvest. I did manage to get one more harvest of ginseng and nightshade that I planted this morning at 8:45am and harvested at just before the seasons changed.

@Kyronix , If planting for another season will help in figuring out what is going on with the mandrake and garlic, I will gladly renew a lease on a plot or two. But without any further guidance from the Dev Team, I'll be cleaning and storing my gardening tools for now.

Thank you for the response.  Truly.

I'll renew my plots, but only plant one Mandrake and/or garlic seed.

NOTE to others:  I ended up with only broken seeds in my plots.  Until this is fixed make sure you plant known working seeds also.

Looking forward to farming this season.

    Hello all,

    Mandrake and Garlic Cultivation.
This is the result of a test to see if it is possible to harvest these two plants by watering them once a day in the real world.

Conditions: seeded and watered immediately after server up, watered daily immediately after server up and no other watering.

UOdate time RL Date time(JST) w=water nw=no water
14 hours time difference from the east coast of Japan time
The time difference from Central Time is 15 hours.

    mandrake
    Dec31 12:35pm 20241125 22:10 w/w/w seed
    Dec43 2:33pm  20241126 22:16 w/w/w sprout1
    Dec55 12:39pm 20241127 22:08 w/w/w sprout1
    Dec67 12:32pm 20241128 22:08 w/w/w leaf lv2
    Dec68 2:51am  20241128 23:20 mandrake
    ------------------------------------------------------------

    garlic
    Dec31 1:28pm 20241125 22:15 w/w/w/ seed
    Dec43 3:00pm 20241126 22:18 w/w/w sprout1
    Dec55 12:59pm 20241127 22:10 w/w/w leaf lv2
    Dec61 7:20am  20241128 9:47am nw Bulb
    Dec64 7:39am  20241128 15:44 garlic

    Result:
Mandrake took 37 britainiadays (3 days and 1 hour) to harvest.
Garlic took 33 Britainadays (2 days and 17 hours).
Both of these results exceeded the estimated cultivation period in the NPC's guidebook.

My impression is that if you think the yield is worth the effort and seed cost, you can plant it, but if you think it would be better to buy it, you don't have to plant it.
Also, since it is absolutely certain that the plants will die due to server maintenance, watering outside of the time immediately after the server is up will require a longer period of time due to the growth regression caused by the plants dying, making the cultivation process more difficult.

I would like to be able to keep the plants in about one previous state of regression until the next watering when they run out of water after maintenance.
Or I hope to be able to delay the regression of plants due to lack of water by the number of waterings I give at one time.

Sorry if it is difficult to understand as I am using translation software.
