Most file systems have mechanisms or tools that support "undelete" (recycle bin, etc). Technically it'd be possible to recover items, say within a 24 hour window. "It's just code".

It really should be possible for a crafter to make these potions (glorious luck potion, transmog potions, etc). Make the crafting require boss/rare crafting materials.
