Are we saying that we like the Blackthorns, shrine battle, commanders style events better than a dungeon?

I have only done the dungeon a few times but I think this is one of the more player friendly dungeons.

I think people are saying they would like to choose what they do based on the time they have; not everyone is like you and can dedicate several hours every single day/night to play video games and do the event from stage 1 through stage 5.... I know crazy, right?

To clarify, and prevent you from once again sending a productive chat/thread off the rails, this thread is about STAGE THREE REWARDS (ie satchels) which is completely different than stage 4 dungeon (ie riftborne turn ins). You cannot obtain satchel drops like the obelisk/banner in any other stage / way.

Yup, nobody’s complaining about the dungeon. But I still think the siege event needs work. If they let us earn the super rare just by attacking the gates—and allowed Stage 2 and 3 bosses to be skipped—we could literally run past the bosses, break the final gate, and head straight for the dungeon. That would fix the low-pop shard problem and boost siege participation. Honestly, I might be a genius and deserve the obelisk for this suggestion. @Community Manager

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    While it's an interesting suggestion, an Obelisk is not in the cards this time. ^_^;

Baja has had zero issues and we are as small as it gets..

    Obelisks - all 6 (hues)
    Banners - 12ish
    Cubes 25+
    Scorched rubble - 7-8
I run a minimum of 4 Champs, usually one character, sometimes 2 chars. I start with CATs, the morning crew starts at 0615 EST and finishes 0700ish.  Then I check on ATL, LS, or GL to se if these shards got a late start, if so i get a full run in or even just the champ. at 0815 Baja resets and I get in a full run there. I take a break or search for hidden chests and then at noon I start the cycle again. 5 of the 6 obelisks dropped on CATs within a lucky 7 day span. I play Mystic archer/thrower/mage and Heal others as much as possible.

    Thanks for the info @Hippo

I'm still at 0 Obelisk, but I've also stopped doing the champ as much as before so at this point I'm not really expecting one. IMO that's the problem with making something RNG and rare... I'm at the point where I have enough of the other drops (banners/cubes/rubble) that I really don't want any more of those so I have less desire to make the time commitment to do the runs.

Lately I'm averaging 2 runs total in a day (typically always the AM one on ATL) but I'm losing steam quickly since the only thing I really want at this point is a Obelisk and there's nothing I can do to influence getting one. It's frustrating when my toons are doing tons of damage, taking a good amount of damage (and death robes), and healing damage yet I have no Obelisk to show for it after over 200 runs now.

That said, I am up to 10 banners now and like 30 cubes but interestingly enough the scorched rubble has been scarce (no new rubble in a week).

I agree scorched seems rare I dumped all other rubble

I did get a banner a few nights ago and got my 3rd piece of scorched rubble the day after.  Still looking for a second obelisk.

I've got six full sets of each of the rubble, minus scorched rubble, so I've stopped collecting it.

Careful there, I was banned for being AFK although I was in front of my computer. I believe it has something to do with the number of accounts logged in. It is my guestimate that the bans are automated now.

Other than that, All 6 hues of the obelisks? Are you stealing my luck Intacto style  :D

I have to admit, I have done the stage 3 for 15-20 times. So, not enough to get one. I lost my desire/drive for this event after the ban.

In all seriousness though; that's my problem with RNG. I have no idea how many satchels ya'll have gotten, but given that I've gotten at this point probably well over 350+ satchels and 0 obelisk it seems broken.

I do not think that that someone using a new toon with 80 magery and casting GHeals on random people should have the same chances as someone like me with an established SW Mage that is taking lots of damage / healing myself and others / dropping EVs / casting spells / killing Mawlings or Clones / resurrecting people / casting WoD for 400+ per spell....all in a single fight. Sorry that doesn't seem like those 2 different toons should have the same chance at the rarest reward.

On Atlantic I have never experienced one where I could do anything specific like those things.  I put my dog in the middle.  I go a screen away and 80% of them I will die with everyone else.  Go res, maybe find my dog and then die again.   Sometimes I'll see the boss.

I have received one on Atlantic.

I can do all the things you mention during a commander fight.

I don't count how many times I've done the boss.  I have 4 horses on Atlantic tho.

As I was perusing the forums I saw this 5 on Friday answer and think maybe this is where I'm going wrong.

Since Mistas isn't an encounter that uses the top-contributor drop mechanic, I'd take this to mean that me using my bard in a party for all of my encounters has actually hurt my drop chances?

I don't think this encounter or Krampus gives the top damager a better item.  If you get a bag, your character went through the calculations and that determined what you got.

There is no way I was top damager when I got my 3 Obelisks.

That's the point I was trying to make.

The answer to the 5 on Friday was "generally speaking" being in a party doesn't hurt your drop chances (on top damage encounters) instead of "being in a party never hurts your chances". This makes me think that being in a party for this encounter (or Krampus) does actually impact the chances of getting a more rare drop.

Said another way; it sounds like maybe I should not be in a party when doing stage 3 and that might actually improve my chances at getting an obelisk. I've been in a party like 99% of the time and I've still yet to get an obelisk. The last 2 battles I've dropped the party so I'll see if that changes anything.

We just got a group that runs buffs.  The last couple of days I've been in the party.  I saw no difference in my bag item.  Got a cube and a banner while in the party.

Quick update after picking up my daily allotment of rocks this morning:

It's been almost a week of running Mistas with no party (separate toons) AND back to working multiple shard and this week I was home a few more days than usual (ie extra playing time lol). I've gotten about 70 satchels in this time frame which netted 5 void cubes, 1 banner, 0 obelisk. That brings my total satchels over 500+ at this point. It doesn't seem (so far) that being in or out of a party matters....still no luck lol.

I have a new gripe (in addition to the limited number of times we can get satchels a day). My support toons are able to cast an EV and throw some heals to get a satchel (that's fine) and they will get a void cube compared to my warrior who is standing toe to toe with the boss and taking massive damage and dealing tons of damage who will get rubble. That doesn't seem fair...especially when I see brand new toons ppl made casting blade spirit and they might get an obelisk before I do when I've done way more to progress the entire spawn/boss. Meh.
