Should I be reporting bots?

Over the course of the event I've submitted about two dozen tickets regarding bots. At first I reported the groups of stationary, identically-geared archers and some semi-automated auto-follow trains, but those were less interesting than the bots in the hive, which:

  • Don't auto-follow per se. Instead, they follow the same route, stopping every 10 paces or so.
  • Have common English names, the same as I see at IDOCs.
  • Ride vanity mounts -- chargers, typically.
  • Don't claim their corpses.
  • Follow the same route to healers when dead, popping in and out of war mode for some reason.

I get that the game is old and benefits financially from bots. In a lot of ways, the events accommodate and capitalize off them by design. To some extent, I'm more curious than I am concerned about them. It's a bad sign when people stop botting your game! However, I have two questions, perhaps @CM_Fenneko could shed light on?

When reporting a bot, I've been using the "harassing (or exploting)" option. Is this correct?

Is it valuable to report bots at these events at all, or does it just waste the team's time? I'm sure the team is already aware of the "problem" (for lack of a better word).

If the regular posters could forgo the usual bickering that comes with this topic, that would be cool. I just don't want to be clogging the team's ticketing system with useless reports.

It's useless to report them now they won't ban paid accounts so it's a free for all now... Wait till they go in a room and drop a Paragon chest at the door for them as a present and watch them stuck ... They never except my gifts...

You answer your own question.. keep in mind the mafia boss stepping down as producer but still dealing with "customer support" GM and EM.. 20+ person on the pay roll that does very little outside 1 event a month and doing the taxi for Tram Yew Gate.

If the new producer was not a pawn.. he would clean the house and make an official cash shop and hire 2-3 GM/EM AT MOST.. even the CM is useless (she getting prep to replace the mafia boss when she officially retire).. type of person that must be related to someone at the studio while promoting bots user and frame skipper on the official BS twitch channel..
Once u took a couple step away from the game.. this is kinda hilarious when u think about it.

all those staff member contribute to killing the game while earning 0 money to EA (officially)
and they have 20+ person on the unofficial (the affiliates) payroll for "customer support"

soon enough they gonna have more customer support aka: affiliates than real players.  :D

    Here:

I'd rather have invisible bots killing my mobs & invisible frame skipper beating me off than dealing with their pixels.

Clean the house.. all u need is 2-3 staff member for customer support and EM event.. make a real cash shop and hire 4-5 more dev with the profit to work on the game.. like the CC and to kill the heresy.. this is what a new blood executive producer should do.
So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

Leave attended paying accounts alone, these people go thru a lot of trouble to play/automate the game.

The game is absolutely not financially profiting from them. Rampant cheating is the #1 most cited reason people quit the game by far. Therefore, they will get paged on by me 100% of the time forever, especially the armies of 24/7 sampires running around the towns and in the solen hive. The players with characters on auto follow or archers standing still I ignore mainly because they're either attended game play / semi attended OR not doing ToTs 24/7 like those sampires do.

To answer your question: Harassment -> Physical harassment and then target players or type their names in. I've been told that any page option will get to them, but, this way is handy because you can target players otherwise you have to manually type them out.

I already proven it's not the case.. I fought a few trains of those it was 1 leader with 2-4 AFK guildmates.

TL;DR: ~8-12 sampies would bot by themselves on Fel invasion.. once their reds gave up on trying to fight me.. I turned on their bots/killing them.

Those same 8-12 sampies would make ~3 trains like I mention instead.. I was like YOOO... in this post the dude pretty much admit it was guildmates that went to bed on the auto follow.. no automation.. they would just profit the 1-4 artefact from each necro boss (when in fact they were there to protect them in PvP or they would still be botting by themselves getting WAY more artefact like they were doing before I stand my ground)

@loop how exhactly those bots ruining your play? And what does make you think by your description those are bots? Are we judging players now by names, by particular healer they use or particular route the take? When did this game become so descriminating based YOUR provided reasons to report a bot? Dont you have anythjng else to do in the game than chasing bots around dungeons? I havent posted here in a while, any of you just step back and look at the last year period of posts - acidity is unbelivable. For christ sake, stop doing this bot crusade and go play the game, it is a medival theme game, not a report a bot game.

Free Client shard (ban world tag instead of shard bound)
+ Legit shard.. it's a sandbox MMOrpg with strong economy and fun activities.. cheater ruining the game for anyone legit.. game is unplayable in PvP for anyone legit.

I'd even send those bot lovers orbiter on ban world.. like the Paiwan of this world on EC if it was only my choice, since they love constellation users that much (a me problem cuz of the state of the game) instead of being call Legit shard.. they would be Classic Origin System like shard.. legit and CC.. but they 100% need to work on CC cuz of heresy like High Sea on CC.

Spoken like a true bot runner. I think the better question is what do bots contribute to the game? And why are you defending bots so hard?

    1. They don't sit and whinge all day.
    2. They are pro-active people with pro-active mentality.
    3. They are just getting on with it, minding their own business.
    4. They are not contributing to a negative atmosphere everywhere they go.
    5. They are farming items, which means more items in the game, to share around.
    6. More items, means prices can go lower, helping the overall economy.
    7. They are usually paid accounts, meaning UO is making money, as opposed to the whiners, who are basically sat doing nothing. sniping from the outside.
    8. They allow busy people in real life, to play, and participate in the game, they may not be "time rich", but they are not sat complaining about these players, they just get on with it.
    9. They have learned extra skillsets - something to always be admired. Not stuck in a rut intellectually.
    10. Can I make it to 10... They are not called Username. :)

So on balance, I choose the Bots over listening to you all day, even Nythrax chose Bots+Atlantic+Sampire+Trammel over no loot Trammel (which would fix all your issues), and having to come and play with me in Felucca. :)

    Now my question to you.
Why are you anti-bots, given all the positives I have given you?
What is your agenda, what do you get out of being so toxic to everyone the whole time?
Quitters are always going to quit, haters are always going to hate.

@loop yes report anyone you feel is breaking the rules. The correct way to do it it through the harassment option, as mentioned by @username.

Question asked and answered. Trolling not required.
