It also does it when you have auto run and the pointer hits something it can mouseover like a npc or chest or reg laying on the ground.

Potions are heavily used still. Since they made potions stack, finding someone using a keg is rare. You can also put your potions in stacks of up to 60k into commodity deeds for vendor sales. So, if you're going to sell potions you don't do kegs.

Seems to be a glitch attached to a failed search/no items match message. Happened to me several times.
