Request for a function to search your house for items

I'm submitting this as a player suggestion or feedback or whatever, but I would like to suggest a way to search my house for a specific item, something like vendor search where you can search by name or by properties and it can go through all the secures in your house and either show you where it is, or relocate the container to where you're standing, or move the item to the moving crate, or something like that. Maybe a vet reward statue or some rechargable from the UO store that can do it?

Basically some way to search your house for items and then reveal or retrieve them, the packrats of sosaria would be eternally grateful!

I have been saying it for years, now... UO could benefit a way to search one's own house, characters on the account bank boxes and backpacks, for given items that one if looking for...

And that's why we love Pinco's!
  • This would be neat. While the current system isn't exactly broken, I suppose, it would be a nice to have thing -- especially given how many times items can seemingly just.....vanish, or at least appear to.

“here is how to search your house:

Step 1) replace all of your containers with commission vendors
Step 2) price all your items a unique set price starting 174, EG: 174,857,213gp
Excluding any item of greater value than that on vendor
Step 3) use vendor search to search for the vendor containing your item with that unique price as part of the search criteria
    Step 4) ..
    Step 5) Profit?”

That does not seem like a feasible idea for me.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.

they should just give us a
    weapons rack
    (holds 500 weapons)
with categories for throwing, archery, swords, fencing and mace fighting

    wardrobe
    (holds 500 clothing)
with categories cloth, leather, stone, platemail, chainmail, ringmail, hide
(have it be a taller version of wedding chest)

    ==========

this would go a long ways towards being able to find stuff.
the jewelry box was an amazing addition to the game
and it would be nice if they continued that with other items for our characters.

We shouldn't have to get more mannequin deeds to put our clothes on,
just so we know where they are located.
And with mannequins we have to open the paperdoll of everyone to see what is on it.
It would be so much easier if we were able to look at them in one location

Indeed, a Weapons' Rack and an Armors' Armoire holding 500 but counting as 1 item would be a great addition which would enhance UO's gameplay enormousily...

Unfortunately, for inexplicable reasons to my understanding, it apparently seems that this might not be a welcomed addition for someone among the Developers...

I hope, though, that their stance on these containers will change and that, finally, we will see them in UO since, truly, they would be a great enhancement to players' gameplay.

I think it was said that we would hoard too much.
It actually would be a benefit, because we would know exactly what we have.
right now I have stuff spread out, but if we had one of these containers
then we would know what items are missing.

when someone calls out in general chat that they need a starter suit
I usually refer them to someone else, because it would take too long
for me to go through every single container to find what i need.

Same for me when it comes to jewelry. I have 2 full jewelry containers that I haven't looked at in probably over a year because it's a chore trying to sort through the assortment of combinations I have on 1k+ jewls

I am not sure if this is a UI thing. We can search existing containers in EC. Maybe Pinco users can shed some light if he has dev custom search.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
