Basic mage: evaluate Intelligence, magery, meditation, resist spells. After that you can be creative. Inscription increases spell damage and is not too hard to learn. Tamers, Necromancers, and Mystic Mages often have the basic build. Spellweaving is also popular but I don't have that. If you choose to add mysticism the reagents you need for that you generally have to harvest yourself or buy from in game vendors so if you choose that you might want to invest in a 100 lrc suit.
