"In addition to the momentum from Endless Conquest and this future momentum from these alternate servers, we are also in the midst of an investigation into bringing DAoC onto Steam! 2020 is going to be a great year for Dark Age of Camelot and with these plans coming to fruition, there will be many more ahead!"
Seems reasonable that if BS makes DAOC available on Steam, that UO could also be available on Steam.
I won't hold my breath or anything, but at least reasonable. Also, that Verge article answers one of my questions about EA accounts and Steam accounts. Hmm....
P.S. Credit to Margrette for pointing out the DAoC info!

The FACTS are that, as TODAY, there are NO Official Info on what will happens coming March.
March! That's optimistic.
The newsletter said they are just beginning to design and build the biggest thing in over a decade.
I'm thinking more along the lines of Q4 next year.
I'm optimistic by choice, not by natural predisposition!
In the worst case scenario, I suppopse that for March the Staff will have to give some certain indications of the direction of travel planned, if only to silence the seeders of FUD...
Bilbo has it right... EA put its foot down on Steam. I doubt Denton got the board or the rest of the EA big wigs to change their minds. Now I could be wrong … but its EA who runs this show and purse strings no matter what Broadsword says or does. If so... we might be looking at a longer run and more players but for how long ?
" While this doesn't tell players anything about what to expect, they can expect it to happen at some point during March of 2020 "
So that is where he is getting the March estimate.
Yeah, I saw that. I think the writer of the article got Pub 108 (March - assuming a pub every 3-4 months still) conflated with whatever the biggest and boldest endeavor is.

Again, EA has re-evaluated their stance regarding Steam. It's all over the gaming news. Has been for a couple months. It's a new, purposeful corporate strategy by EA - words that should send a chill down the spine of anyone who reads them.
BS can certainly take advantage of EA's new approach and that appears to be exactly the case with DAoC.
My circle of friends and I are laying money on a new distro for.... LINUX! Or Apple....
Maybe a Java version? We were tinkering with a Java version of a game that ran encapsulated packets to the server side for data - but most of the heavy lifting was on the client side. So.....
Please, there are enough... “persons” already that try to disrupt the discussion with FUD...

DAoC is the flagship game for broadsword and they are a bit better at communication. UO has to follow suit... DAoC got endless quest.. we got endless journey.... DAoC setup a merch shop.... UO followed with the highly professional swag store. DAoC goes steam.... well... have a guess.. or believe that Bonnie is coming up all this and has a say in it lol.

And you comment adds what to my observation ("as TODAY (...) NO Official Info") in the last sentence of my post?
Nothing.. just saying it's pretty obvious where the journey is headed... even though there is no official word from the UO branch within BS. It's a discussion board, isn't it?

BS will not do anything with DAoC or UO without EAs blessing. EA owns DAoC and UO and hired BS to maintain it. It is all a pipe dream until EA says ok. Also remember EA controls all the real money.

You can pretty much bet on UO going to steam. DAoC is planning on bringing their game to steam and I imagine both games have the same goal.

BS will do nothing without EAs blessing. BS can lay all the BS it wants to but until EA (you know the people that OWN DAoC and UO) tells them it is ok then BS will do nothing but talk, talk and more talk.

Read the Links. EA is sending their games to Steam also.
I am not sure why they would waste time with steam. It isn't gonna help anything. My evidence is everquest, everquest 2, secret world, uncharted waters online, and ryzom which I was all apart of them when they went stream. None of them got new players because of steam at all. The only thing it will do is make it so people can buy stuff with steam money, which will be useful I suppose, but it is riddled with problems. Ff14 is a nightmare when it comes to steam.
The only one I have seen that got more people from steam, was archeage unchained. Which honestly had nothing to do with steam. They took a pay 2 win game removed the sub made it not pay 2 win, and buy 2 play.
So the only way I could see this working is if they marketed a new server called ulitma online unleased or something, remove the cash shop minus cosmetics, remove the sub and make it buy 2 play Then make it steam only with the valve anti cheat, so it bans your entire steam account for cheating. Making it enchanced client only to also limit cheating. Making it so a sub just allows you to have a house. That way all the cheaters, scripter, rmt people that buy and sell gold and houses, can stay on old uo, and all the non cheaters can go to steam, and it would attract new players that dont want cheaters, and hate pay 2 win games which ulitma online is.
"Recently an EA game hit Steam with good success. It also seems as if UO might be going there with the announcement on Sep 23rd. Seems as though EA is finally giving the go ahead.
So when could we expect this if possible?"
Previously there was a push to get DAOC on Steam. It was Greenlit by Steam but never progressed because of the EA - Origin - Steam dynamic at the time. It appears that EA is now again allowing their games on Steam. Any chance that DAOC will be allowed on Steam? Are there any discussions with EA to do so?
Yes, this is still under discussion. We are still working towards getting Dark Age of Camelot onto Steam as soon as possible!
Broadsword is preparing a massive repossession of abandoned houses in DAoC come Patch 1.127, which is currently in testing. This will affect any houses that are condemned and have a repossession timer on them due to their associated accounts being inactive. In short, if you haven’t logged in for more than three months, you should do so ASAP.

They should make Siege Perilous the only shard accessible through Steam. That would really make the reviews interesting to read!
