RNG streakiness / luck roll anomolies?
Two observations:
- I've had a few days where most of the (brand new, never touched) malas nest locations are all within about 25 tiles of each other. Likewise, Tram and Fel maps all have coordinates in a very narrow range from each other. In this "mode", all maps regardless of facet, appear to only cover 2-3 overall locations. This "mode" seems to last several days at a time. Other days, I don't observe this, and the spread of nest locations is much more diverse.
- I've had several cases where, for several days, hidden chests only have 1 turn in artifact present, when running constant 3-5K luck (in tram). Outside of these times, there are usually 2-3 artifacts present in chests that contain turn in artifacts, when running 3K+ luck in tram.
How is the RNG seeded by the UO server? Is this per character, per account, per login, or is it global to the server, or something else? Is the RNG thread-safe/are thread safety issues relevant?
Perhaps broadsword can add a text command or clicky which displays the RNG seed being used, if it's something tied to the player/account/login/etc.

At the top of a UO hour in one of the first 5 UO minutes a Yukio would be the drop for everyone.
So they used a toon to see if it was 1 min, then 2 min, etc. When they got a Yukio they would quickly turn in all the others. UO times are very fast, I could not do this, but a lot of Yukio's were made this way.
They removed the time thing after it was discovered. It was active many weeks.
So good Luck figuring out UO RNG and all the things involved.
I have no clue how UO time was involved or how players figured it out. I saw a player doing it. They were telling me how. I looked up the UO time. Its so fast you have like 20 seconds to figure it out and do it. You had to have at least 5 toons to benefit. All the toons needed the quest done and you claimed the reward with all of them.
Who uses UO Time!!!
Then one day they couldn't do it. It became random for them again.
I doubt you'll find one UO example of that before the forum closes.
There is not a post here I have not read other than trade forums. I read the updates.
There were soo many fixes with pets that we called them Ninja Fixes because no one knew why one day you could put a 105 wresting scroll on a Dragon Turtle and the next day it had 1000 STR. Then one day that dragon Turtle had some random str.
Why would putting a single scroll on that pet a 105 Wresting would make it's strength 1000 the next day and it stayed until the fix.
Was that fix posted?
