Champ Spawns

Just after some advice for a champ spawn to start on, I've done them before along time ago with a guild or with my necro mage but that's in the distant past and I feel like I'm starting all this again. My main is a tamer weaver mage with a decent nightmare and a aoe Naja. Ultimately I want to go through all the uo content like doom , roof and all the champs I can solo but just after some advice on where to start out

First advice is to make a dedicated spawning temp. They're a little slower than they used to be years ago. The longer you're in there the better chance at getting raided. Necro is still decent but samps run champs now hands down.

I used to solo Atlantic despise during "prime time".  It was off hours where i had problems.

If going to the island, familiarize urself w where the teleporter is that takes u to the dungeon (bottom left side) & the fastest route to get to it (even using teleport if applicable) bc dying on ur boat sucks :o  I’d suggest even using it once so u know what to expect. iirc it drops u near a hidden wall to click on that leads to another sparkly to get out of the dungeon. If being chased into the dungeon, u can quickly drop a stone wall on the hidden wall (once opened) that will delay anyone chasing u. Inviso to get mob aggro off u & onto attackers may help as well.

Sampires or healing chiv (90chiv is what I run) warriors do tend to be best, as mentioned. While dedicated spawning templates are fastest be weary of their limitations in pvp & keep in mind that solo stealth archers that spotted u & are taking pop shots almost always have backup on the way. Often their entire purpose is to delay ur departure long enuff for others to arrive.

Bind a recall/sacred journey spell to an INSURED boat key/rune in ur pack may also help on the island… plz make sure it’s insured. You’ll just have to run outside the spawn area to use which shouldn’t b a prob if ur being raided. (Can u recall onto a boat in T2 still? It’s been a looong time since I’ve spawned on the island.)

Work up sacrifice so u can self res as there are no healers on the island. Keeping a gem of salvation in ur pack can be a huge benefit. Bring enuff supplies bc running out of bandages, petals, pots, etc when 4th lvl hits is a bummer. I’m missing a lot but that’s off the top of my head.

Good luck and hope u do well bossman

    Hi,

I am sharing some guides with you that may be helpful.

Each part has more pages, and in part 3, I give an example of a Champion Spawn.

Good luck on your adventure, and enjoy!

Pretty much this. The name of the game here is speed; less time there means less time to potentially be raided.

IMO Piper is the easiest champ (and spawn) so it will help make things quicker compared to doing something like Oaks.

I've also found that I've been able to solo a spawn during ATL primetime as well (again being quick) since a lot of PvPers (ie the people who will raid you) are busy PvPing, but the best "peak time" to do a champ IMO is during an EM event. Everyone goes there for an hour so you can easily get a spawn in without much interference.

Thanks for the comments. I went to the Abyssal Infernal spawn last night with my tamer and naja pet, no pvpers but I was too slow. My Naja had no trouble tanking and taking out big groups but the logistics of moving it about without getting ganked myself and herding all the mobs together just didn't seem to work. Will try again with my paladin.

If you are going to punish yourself, you may as well do the Primeval Lich and see if you can pick up some deco.  We did those two with small groups, players died, took a while.  No raids needed for that.  The mobs are all spread out as you stated.
Focus on what you can do, not what you can't.

Yeah it's way too slow to just use a pet.

From your initial temp you can add enough necro for wraith form and spam thunderstorm/essence of wind since they're area spells. Then you add in a -mage bow with hit area effect and mana leech. I like magical shortbows since they're pretty fast.

Champ pops switch to -mage slayer bow while your pet tanks or bring in another character from a 2nd account.

Configuring effective odd temps has been a niche of mine.

As Urge stated earlier; a Sampire is the standard for getting them done the quickest but a paladin with a whirlwind area damage weapon is good too. Going back to what I said, some spawns like the Abyssal / Oaks / Primeval are a bit tougher (both spawn and champ) than say Piper or Rikktor so they will take additional time.

I did Piper tonight with my tamer , took about 1h30m with a mix of my nightmare killing stuff and casting thunderstorm. The boss was surprisingly easy

Glad you were able to do the spawn without getting raided. Hopefully you got some good scrolls.  :)

As mentioned above, a paladin or Sampire is going to take half the time (literally) because you are able to clear the higher level spawn faster with your DPS compared to a single pet. Just a heads up that if doing Piper if you aren't already in some sort of "form" (ie vampire / wraith / etc) that he can morph you into a rat which dismounts you. This isn't really an issue if you aren't being raided but you're at a huge speed disadvantage if people show up because you are on foot.

Yes I got a magic resist 120 + some other good 110 scrolls, primers not so good though.

I got rat'ed , forgot about that. Europa a bit quiet and I was out of the way so was not an issue.

Going to collect some slayer talismans and make a decent radiant scimitar and give it a go with my paladin next

Having another character invoking the knight of justice virtue for "protection" of your spawner will yield you double the amount of scrolls.

Personally i like despise and destard since they're quick.
