Haven Training or else

I guess I always knew the purpose for Haven, but I never had much use for it as my toons were pretty much old when Haven came about. Recently, since returning to UO I wanted to venture out and make some new templates. I actually find myself as a "young" player utilizing Haven quite a bit.

It seems most combat skills can be GM quite fast just fighting bogs, ettins, and then earth eles in the mine. I also found that spellbinders can GM resist probably as fast as 2-3 days.

Does anyone else prefer to just Haven train or do players still use some of the training methods found throughout the UO wikis such as using golems etc? I think some of the recommendations for raising a weapons skill and tactics are doing graveyards. Also, parrying seems to have some old and new methods but I GM parry pretty fast just off earth eles. I didn't do the whole 8 sheep method and such.

Also, does anyone have anything else that was easy to GM in Haven? Something like lumberjacking or mining seems like it can't be sped up and is just going to take as long as needed regardless where you are at.

Just want to hear people's thoughts and maybe this will help some new adventurers.

Haven is wonderful the quest with excelerated skill gain will get you to 50 super fast. The problem is you can't do $hit with 50 skill... Haven should have quest that take you to GM there should be a small champ area that drops 105 ps for people to learn to pvp(no one with xx skill points allowed and of course no 3rd party clients) and lastly EJ should be restricted to Haven....
  • Good points. I actually like all of those. I really like the idea of a champ area and 105ps. I could see restricting EJ accounts to Haven especially if they expand it and even have its own champ spawn.

Old Haven, Ettins, Earth Elementals, and, don’t forget the pirates in the farming area, will easily get you to 100 and even higher if it’s just the skill level that gets you gains.  All are easier to find in good numbers in New Haven than anywhere else.  Good for new players that don’t know where else to look yet.
