I typically like the slash & bash of the ToT style events so that part appeals to me, especially since this time around they made it for multiple dungeons / facets and the drop rate is pretty decent depending on template/luck/luck potions/population. This is probably my favorite part based on the return on investment of time. I know I can get X drops (ie rewards) during my play time.
That said, I also like the semi laid back play of the nests which anyone can do. I like that the maps will have Umbrascale turn in items and plenty of refinements. I really wish there was some sort of "auto loot" capability with CC where I could click a button and auto loot all the gems out of the nests; they add up quickly. I also wish it was 1 stack of 60k gold instead of 3 to 4 piles just to cut down on the clicking. This is my second favorite because it gives some stuff (albeit slower) and a chance at a "rare" drop.
I'm back and forth about the matriarch part. On ATL we get to do it quite a bit which is a plus but it does get a bit discouraging when you've done dozens and dozens of them without getting the grand prize. Especially when you see the "other people" gating in their 5-6 toons (named things like ii / iii / iiii / iiii) thinking that I'm going to need to run 10 toons every matriarch just to get a mature egg...and getting a bag of deco eggs instead. Especially since it's a new pet, I think these should be more easily available.
I like the idea of the hidden chests, but given my thief is on ATL, I have the exact opposite problem other shards have with doing a matriarch... there are just too many thieves trawling the dungeons revealing. The chests are by far the biggest grind for me because it gives the least amount of ROI. If I played a less populated shard though I think I'd enjoy just walking around hidden looking for chests with a chance at the "rare" prize.
Drop rate is great. Difficulty isn't bad. I'm collecting the Paragon chests.
The one thing I would personally like better would be changing the mobs when they change dungeons so we get a whole new flavor.
All in all this one is a hit for me.
Matriarch fight is also fun to do. I run there from time to time on different templates and they all work fine.
Nests are also fun, but I agree that having limited time for play I prefer doing ToT for guaranteed rewards. Then sell those rewards and get what I want. I'm not an expert here but it would be nice to add system like when you do for example 1000 Nests (or 1000 Matriarch) drop of Mature Egg is guaranteed. Or something like that.
Tonight is a guild hunt night, so I'll use some of my points to get a few massive maps, mark them and hopefully dig them with a party. All round fun!
Hidden chests are fun, but sometimes I just wanna use my macer to bash Infiltrators... Getting Mature Dragon Eggs, that's not a great part of it. RNG sucks for me and then there's the 120 stealing required for the statues. Never really made a thief... but enjoying the event nonetheless.
Already shared these thoughts on a separate thread but I think that anything being introduced, like a rideable dragon, should NOT be left to RNG. Honestly I wouldn't mind if they handled it like they did the NL Fractured Veil for ostards event where you fight the boss and there is a chance the item is dropped in your pack BUT you also can buy that item on the vendor for X points. It allows the unlucky people to work towards what they want. That's why I love the ToT rewards because I know they cost X...I'll have to grind and I'll eventually get there.
I do like the idea of the decryption cypher so you don’t need a t-hunter to do nests. That was a good idea in order to allow anyone to dig up a nest.
Never be afraid to challenge the status quo
