[Publish 120 Intro-Fan] The tyranny of Lord Blackthorn and the arrival of the Avatar

Noise of running horses, screams and desolation...

Ilshenar

mistica combs Lasher's hair

Then we will go for a walk by a beautiful lake I saw, there we will rest and pick up some ingredients I need -said mistica-

A ferret comes running screaming 'mistica help!'

What's going on? -asks mistica-

Something terrible has happened, Lord Blackthorn's soldiers are looting and killing in the villages to get gold and valuables. -said the ferret-

We are all in danger, go to the fairy forest and tell them to alert the villagers of Sosaria, I will go to look for Jaana -said mistica-

Come on Lasher -said mistica-

Britain

mistica arrives to Jaana and explains to her what happened.

I'm going to look for Shamino, he will know what we can do, go with Lasher to a safe place. -said Jaana-

Twin Oaks Tavern

Jaana arrives at the tarberna and greets Shamino warmly.

I knew I could find you here, I need you old friend -said Jaana-

What can I do for you dear friend -said Shamino-

Jaana explains to Shamino everything that happened.

Only the Avatar was able to face Lord Blackthorn in the past, even if we gather almost all the Warriors of Destiny, without the Avatar we can't defeat him. -said Shamino-

The Avatar before he left told us 'When there is a decline of virtue and chaos prevails, I will manifest myself to restore order' -said Jaana-

But the Avatar does not know what is happening, there is no way to contact him. -said Shamino-

Yes there is, before he left he gave me some fragments, a black stone and a mantra to recite in a certain place that he indicated to me, in case something happened. -said Jaana-

Well, let's go to that place, we need him. -said Shamino-

Near the Shrine Justice

This is the place. -said Jaana-

Jaana places the fragments on the ground and a black stone in the center.

What now? -asked Shamino-

I'm going to recite the mantra and we can't do anything else but wait -answered Jaana-

Jaana recites a mantra.

The wind came out -shouted Shamino-

The sky became dark, thunder is heard and lightning strikes the black stone, causing a red portal to open.

In another Universe

Near the Shrine Justice

A flash of light dazzles the surroundings.

Jaana and Shamino hold their hands to their eyes.

Behind the light the Avatar manifests.

Familiar faces the Avatar sees after his arrival, with a smile he says 'My dear friends, long time no see.'

Jaana and Shamino run to embrace the Avatar.

I understand that if you have opened a portal for me it is because something is going on, isn't it? -asked the Avatar-

Yes, a tragedy happened that only you can deal with. -answered Jaana-

Jaana explains everything.

Did you keep my belongings? -asked the Avatar-

Yes, in the place you indicated and as you told me, everything is there. -answered Jaana-

Let's you and me Jaana, Shamino, you meet Dupre, Geoffrey and Iolo in Trinsic. -said the Avatar-

Wisp Dungeon

Jaana and the Avatar arrive at the altar.

Jaana moves a stone from the altar and takes out the Avatar's belongings.

It's been a long time since I've seen this armor. -said the Avatar warmly-

The Avatar gets dressed.

Stand here Avatar -said Jaana-

Jaana makes in the chalice on the table the mana and gives it to the Avatar.

Drink -said Jaana-

Now I am going to anoint you -said Jaana-

Jaana puts the liquid from the bottle on the Avatar's head while pronouncing a mantra.

A mystical and divine energy flows on the altar.

The Avatar is transfigured and takes on a new appearance.

The True Avatar opens his eyes and says 'It is time to restore order'.

This summer get ready for an epic battle for the fate of Sosaria.

'This summer you can look forward to Publish 120 to our live servers – will the long standing peace that King Blackthorn has enjoyed finally be running out?  Small skirmishes and inconveniences have underscored King Blackthorn’s rule – is there something bigger and more sinister on the horizon?'

I would love to see The Avatar make an appearance like that.  Wow, awesome writing!

I'm apprehensive for the upcoming global event / story for at least three reasons.

For one, on Great Lakes Blackthorn is a good, competent, and responsible ruler. My character at the time was actually won over by home and came to speak at his coronation. I'd have to think that at least on some of the other shards he's also so. I'd hate it if he were to suddenly turn in global fiction for no particular reason.

For two, if the official fiction is even close to this fiction, it'd violate UO's timeline, where we deviated from Ultima prime after Ultima 1, at which point the shards' stories paralleled prime's story but far from exactly. For example, it was Lord Casca, not Blackthorn, who played the part of the false King, in UO. For another example the razing of Magincia and raising of New Magincia took place on UO under very different circumstances than they did in Ultima prime. As a final example, note how in Ultima prime British was King more or less the entire time except for the fifth game, whereas in UO British left for questionable reasons. (Most RPers I've interacted with treat the Ultima prime storyline as "legends from another realm," kind of like we might try to RP hearing of things from other games or other media.)

For three, they've already retconned Blackthorn once, when they decided that evil robo-Blackthorn slain by Dawn in Yew was a mere doppelganger and the real Blackthorn returned following the interregnum / splintering of the realm that happened after Dawn's death and the defeat of Virtuebane. So what are they going to do, do it again?

I hope whatever they come up with respects and tries to align with the fact that things have played out differently on each shard and that UO's history isn't the same as Ultima prime's history.

So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

Leave attended paying accounts alone, these people go thru a lot of trouble to automate the game.

It’s comical to me you are so frightened of somehow bod scripters get some sort of advantage.

So what are they going to do, do it again?

This fan introduction does not follow the timeline of Ultima Online.

It is an alternative story to the Ultima saga, since in the published parts (I, II and III IV) there are stories and characters not linked to the saga.

Figurative represents part of the drama of creation that we all experience, where the eternal soul lives this duality of states of joy and sadness, peace and war, prosperity and decadence, etc... when it is conditioned to the cycle of life and death.

This fact (cycle of life and death) is experienced in the game when our body is killed and we go with the subtle body to resurrect ourselves to a healer, another player or places such as shrine, tree of life, etc...

That's why The Piper said 'We killed you!' in Part I and the eternal figure of Lord Blackthorn who represents in much of the saga as a tyrant.

'Lord Blackthorn is a Britannian nobleman who served as regent of the kingdom during Lord British's disappearance in Ultima V, descending into wickedness at the instigation of the Shadowlords, the once virtuous man became tyrannical and oppressive, plunging the land into an era of totalitarian fear until his eventual exile. Centuries later, seeking to regain his rule over the world, the desperate villain joined forces with the Guardian, assisting him in his machinations during Ultima IX.'

I know the lore. My point was they follow a similar path to what you propose, there's a decent risk of them messing up a lot of other lore that's happened since the game began.

On a side note, Raph Koster would be very pleased that the shards, in some cases when it comes to the lore, have drastically diverged from one another.

We caught a glimpse of it during the Trinsic Invasions back in 2000 when some shards organized far better than others.
