What draws players to EM events?
Tonight's "The Flaming Sword" was the first event I'd attended since October 2023. From what I could tell with all the players and pets crowded around it was a straight up monster-bash. Did I miss something else? Here's what transpired on my screen during the event 
As far as a monster-bash event, I definately picked the wrong template. I brought a samurai with a splash a chivalry, seems tamers, spellweavers and mystics were most popular. I managed to earn looting rights on a few mobs, but not for any loot I couldn't get off a mongbat and I couldn't get near the last few mobs without instant-death.
I am not trying to discount the EMs or the players participating, just trying to determine if this style event is "typical" for Pacific events.

I will usually pull up bars of pets because I can't see who are warriors.
I go to these types of events because they are fun. I like to see what the different EMs come up with to entertain the players. They get very creative
In the first, yes, running a melee character I died several times. Happened so quick I doubt a healer would have helped in time.
In the second video I only died upon entering the event area, because the mobs attacked me before my screen loaded. After that the mobs basically ignored me except for getting petrified by boss attacks at regular intervals.
