This isn't a bug, but i figured I would comment. The new increased amount of BOD's required to level up, is way too much. I know you don't want items to progress to quickly, but the way you have implemented has backfired. Crafters are giving up and in some cases not playing any more. I for one will not craft anymore, I put about 450 colored Carp bods in and am not doing it again, (10's, 15's and 20's) I also did about 450 the first round. I am officially on Strike. Collectively we have put thousands of BOD's in it this round and its only 1/4 full? I don't mind doing my part, but my crafting was taking up 50% of my game play, which is not the reason I play and way to much of my time IMHO. So now people are not playing as much. And it doesn't help that there are events on the main shards keeping some from play NL. Also, there is almost Zero benefit to the Crafter for all the hard work aside from a possible title and selecting the buffs like area effects. I cant speak for other, but I don't care at all about the title or selecting.  So why should I craft to help level it up for everyone else's benefit who doesn't craft? I know it may sound selfish, but it is the reality of the situation. Now if you implemented it to where only the Crafters accounts who contributed to the Congiarium would have the ability to get or even craft the next level items like Power or Fortification as loot, then it may be worth our effort. We could even sell them on our vendors for others to be able to have. You could also make it to where Bosses would drop those items for all to get, but not regular monsters. Either way, it makes me very sad that such a great idea was implemented in this manner. And yes I know it has only been a couple of months since the shard went live, but to expect people to put that much time into crafting is a mistake. Thank you for all you have done, but considering a change would be much appreciated.

  • I think this is an excellent post. The analysis and comments are straight on target. The suggestion to make changes so that the contributing Crafter may benefit in some direct way seems a good way to address this game design issue. I dropped a few LBOD's on the Congiarium and while doing so, considered the math:
350 turn in points = 70.0 bank points  OR 8,000 gold & lot of fame
450 turn in points = 90.0 bank points OR 10,000 gold & lot of fame
525 turn in points = 105.0 bank points OR 11,250 gold & lot of fame

"Reward Titles" equates to "fame"(reputation system). What is the logic to giving up "lots of fame" per Shop LBOD turn-in in hope of some kind of "title" from Congiarium efforts?
And the loss of gold received appears to be ignored.
I have been giving away LBOD rewards because the gold received (from Shop turn-in) makes selling such rewards on a vendor not worth considering: just something to dispose of rather than waste house item count.

I have no interest in returning to the regular production shards. The New Legacy resource system is such a great improvement that I'm not going back to "old school". I'm also done with "BIG houses" to maintain: too much like RL. ;)

I want the UO Team to know that NL is a success in one (old) veteran player's view. So, carry on and confidently address the bugs and design issues.
