IDOCS and Script users.

I am sure these kinds of threads show up every once in a while but I want to write about an experience I had tonight on Atlantic.
There was an IDOC advertised on the minister of trade so I figured why not? Showed up, got a bit of useless loot from the house and then I decided to wait for the one hour timer for the barrels to fall.
While waiting someone from one of the IDOC guilds recalled in so I figured I was dealing with a scripter at this point.
The barrels drop the area of not available for placement yet.
I try placing approximately every 45 seconds because I know if I try to do it too fast I'll trigger the lock out timer and be unable to even use the tool [very annoying]
At about 4:14AM I place and still get the area is unavailable to place message and then about 10 seconds later the IDOC guy places.
Maybe my timing was off and I need to get good or maybe the script was simply too fast for a human to compete with.
Either way it was a frustrating finish to the night.

I know these guilds apparently have a monopoly on the housing supply and are selling houses on forums and in game. I also know IDOC is a traditional part of UO but I feel that they should maybe find another solution to this since all efforts to deal with scripting in the past seems to have not done much of anything.

Maybe a lottery stone placed at the spot when a house falls?

The majority of the player base recognizes IDOCS and the item system from IDOCS are broken as hell and botted to hell, yet, the powers that be ignore them in favor of the 0.01% of the rats that bot army them 24/7. Yes, you heard it right. The 3 people that run them took 8 hour shifts daily to ensure their group never missed an IDOC and a chance to RMT the house. I have posted names/proof here but have gotten reprimanded so I can't do anymore.

I wish you the best luck on your quest for change; hopefully you can succeed where everyone else has failed.

there is too much corruption involved to ever get this changed, to much $$$$$ RMT cash flowing to get it changed

imagine players that make a living through RMT having more power than those who are supposed to run this game

you will never get to the bottom if its until there is a complete change in Dev team and no influence over them

I used to love idocs 15 years ago, there is no point doing them now, certainly not on ATL

you are not in the club

And yes, 100% no point even complaining because YOU will get punished and the idoc RMT cheats continue as usual

you get your posts removed because you break some stupid rule somewhere but you can script cheat and negatively affect the gameplay of there, that is ok

I give this 5 mins before its deleted and I get a warning or a ban

Even though I have not mentioned any names etc, I will be upsetting somebody somewhere and that just wont do

It is easier to place a smaller house in an IDOC location and then resize it later when the scripters are not around.

Yes I had that idea. It's just that I kept getting the you can't place error and the script beat me by about 15 seconds before I could get off another attempt.
Another thing is that house tool is a pain to use with all those menus. It should have an option to set a house type so you can quickly set the tool and get to the footprint in one click.

I was trying to pace my attempts to 45 seconds apart because if you try to place too fast the tool locks you out for like 3-5 minutes which would then put me in an even worse situation.

Yes I know these topics tend to be locked. I am taking the cordial approach by not naming names or attacking anybody.

I have been back in UO for almost 2 months now and have been enjoying myself again so far.
Even though I was not playing, I have kept tabs on the game over the years and I know that the IDOC issue is a big frustration for people.
I saw it for myself last night how ridiculous it is. The tool is clunky and slow to use and it's hard to compete against a script who can do all the inputs in milliseconds compared to a human.

I imagine this barrel thing that IDOCS do now was designed to combat scripting but now you have a multiboxer with 10 accounts going around punching barrels [lol]

But yeah I am hoping we can have a discussion with no attacks so there is no locking.
I feel like the current situation is bad for everyone involved. Existing players. Returning players, and yes, even new players.
I do mention UO to friends and try to get them to play. But I feel the lack of housing and the IDOC situation are a huge frustration toward growing the game's potential audience.

This is strictly an Atlantic problem all other shards have more than adequate housing and even on Atlantic its only bigger houses

if you are trying to place  18x18/keeps etc in Atlantic, forget it, they have the timer and scripts and literally dozens of accts looped to beat you. If you have tracking, just look for lamas, you will see loads hidden there waiting, they place full size plots faster than legit players can.

This I observed many time about 2 years ago, I am sure the cheat tech has improved.

Every change this Dev team comes up with to combat scripters is overcome within days by the cheat trade

the only players that lose out are the legit players

My advice, move on, do NOT buy from RMT sites or any players that list multiple 18x18 pin Facebook or the forum

Real players cannot possible have a housing stock of max storage Atlantic houses

They are ALL cheating and all gold converted and sold for $$$$$$$

This funds more dodgy codes and Broadsword get NO income from it

And nobody has convinced me otherwise

It was a 12x12 spot...it was not even a particularly big house. I just wanted an upgrade from my current 7x12 lol.

I feel like the solution is pretty easy in that once the house drops, a raffle stone spawns and you have to touch it to be on the list. Granted this won't really help with all the muliboxers but at least you have *a chance* by winning the rights to place at that plot without dealing with a script.

... great suggestion, and the system already exists...

over the years there have been many suggestions
RMT sellers will just created millions of accts with dodgy codes to almost guarantee they win the raffle

when there is no real will form the devs to combat this the cheats will always win

Yeah, I am not saying using a raffle stone is the perfect solution by any means, but at least it gives legit players a chance at the plot since it’s randomized.
i am sure these people will still make 10 multi boxed accounts to up their chances.

If you really wanted to make it a bit harder on them you could make the stone check for skill points possibly and only characters with 720.0 total skill points and at least 6 of the skills have to be GM ( to prevent loading up useless skill points ) would be able to register to the stone.

This makes it so they at least have to put in the work instead of fresh IDOC alts.

The simpliest solution is for EA to auction off the house like an auction safe to the highest bidder.  Yes, the script guys could outbid everyone - but where is the profit in that?  Bid 1 plat, pay 1 plat, maybe you can sell it to someone for 1 plat.   That would kill the script placing.  Done.  Solved it in 5 minutes.  Its being sold anyways for gold why not just make a big old gold sink out of it?  On low pop shards it sells for 1m gold.  Fine.

yes auction would be so fair for everyone. They are looking for gold sink since long this one is a good one. If no one one bid on the house after 24 hours then spot come free like before with normal placement.
  • I agree on the gold sink that would be healthy for the game

I prefer a raffle of the plot tbh cause not everyone has billions of gold laying around and it’s particularly unfair to new and returning players.

But an auction could still work too. I feel the devs could add other gold sinks too though. But removing a couple billion gold from the game at a time would be a good thing as well. Inflation is ridiculous right now.

i guess the idea is to name it as unappealing to scriptors as possible and hopefully collapse those real estate guilds that are such a bad thing for this game in general.

The gold sink of selling fallen houses would remove gold from the game and bring house pricing down.  As it works today - scripter places house.  Scripter sells house for 5 plat.  Scripter sells 5 plat to next person needing a house. Rinse and repeat.

With an auction - 5 plat is bid on the house - 5 plat is removed.  5 plat less in the game.  Eventually prices will come down especially on houses.

You don't need things for free in this game - work for a house. Its not hard to make a plat.  I made nearly a plat just selling 27th anny tokens on Atlantic this month.    Yes I have shard shields to move them but you could have moved yours with mine and sold on Atlantic too.

EM events give out items worth 300m in gold etc etc.

House auctions cuts scripters off at the legs.  Unless UO doesn't want them to go away.....

iirc boss said if there’s any changes to idocs next, it will be to just remove them entirely. Prob not the change most folks want. But then... there have been things said that never saw the light of day...

Just wanted to note, that items aren’t the issue of discussion.  Placement is.  So even if idocs were removed completely they’d still have to deal with placement issues.
