Please explain the decay status of ships left in the water for a number of days

,  I can find NO explanation on that on the official UO pages and on the Stratics page it is incorrect.

Ship Refreshing and Decay, Lighthouse House Addon (Veteran Reward)

Galleons decay similar to houses. In order to refresh a ship one needs to double-click the mooring lines. This refreshes the ship even when out at sea. If you neglect to refresh your ship it will vanish after 13 days, going through the following decay phases:

    • Slightly Worn - 3 days
    • Somewhat Worn - 3 days
    • Fairly Worn - 3 days
    • Greatly Worn - 3 days
    • In Danger of Collapsing - 1 day
    From: https://www.uoguide.com/Boats

At the moment someone said a shard was advancing too fast.

After I reported yesterday, it stopped advancing on the ships that it was doing it too
I refreshed all of the ships on the north side of the floating emporium
(except one because I don't have access to it).
And Ordo Sylvanus ships along the coast of tokuno (that had public access)
All are normal decay today (including mine)

I know this has happened on Sonoma before.
(I checked my Brit ship on a Friday and on Monday it was gone,
but that was a few years ago. And it didn't go to lighthouse.
    Only my chars were captains)

I haven't had any problem on Sonoma and I am the guild refresh person.  We have from 16 to 24 ships in the water at all times and in my several years of refreshing each of them I/we have never lost a ship.  I was refreshing them twice a week and a few months ago I decided that was kinda silly and a lot of needless work so I now only refresh them once a week.  I have had no problems and I restate I have never lost any of our ships.

It may be there but I could not find how many days before a ship decays on that page.

It is a little lacking but it did say to refresh them because they do decay.  UOGuides is better and has more info.  The reason I posted it was because the OP said there was nothing on UO.com about it.  There is a lot of stuff on the UO Wiki you just have to try different words sometime until you find what you want but it is getting better.

There is no specific decay info on that site that I found.  Am I blind or what?

I agree that information could be better. I will try to confirm the timing and then update the page. My apologies.

    • On a shard where you have no house you might consider a ship as a way to extend your available storage beyond your bank box, however boats decay. The need for regular refreshing may mean that your boat and all its precious cargo may disappear. Should your vessel suffer this fate you must discard or overmark any runes associated with it. The runes do not distinguish between dry docked and decayed and can prevent the launching of a new boat.

That is where Mariah can put the exact number of days.

I let one decay a while back just to see.  13 days is the correct answer. On the 14th day there will be one less annoying player ship parked in the hunting waters for me to waste time tracking.

www.uo-cah.com is your best resource guide for most of UO.  Its only site left that keeps things current.   www.uoguide.com  doesnt get updated anymore and some of the old stuff is flat out wrong.
