A friend of mine had a paroxysmus swamp dragon dissapear on him, but it was dead for 3 weeks and he did not res it,
I'm aware of an ongoing issue with paroxy swamp dragons dissapearing but Is there a timer that pets remain dead for before they dissapear? are dead pets subject to happiness decay like live pets?

Another friend said he lost a windrunner when he didn't res it for a long time.

    Severs are backed up every day with I would thing a trash dump to get rid of unwanted stuff so I would think you would want to rez them prior to that.  You are encouraged to test this with your best pet and let us know the results @Yoshi / @Mervyn
