Less than 5 pet slot pets
Anyone know how much taming/lore you need to control like a trained 3 slot pet?
I feel like you could make some fun builds if you could control a lesser pet with like 85 taming/lore

From that cesspool forum:
Vollem
2 slots 0 skill
3 slot 6 skill -> 49
4 slot 49 -> 70
5 slot 70 -> 82
For something with the base stats of a PP mare that doesn't require much taming, I'm not sure why more people don't use these.
Well for at least the Triton (a 5 slots pet), not sure whether also for other pets, the skill requirement to redeem it from a Statue is 100.0 and it has to be REAL skill, not from items (https://uo.com/wiki/ultima-online-wiki/combat/pvm-player-versus-monster/rising-tide/), although, the https://www.uo-cah.com/bestiary?creature=Triton#b indicates a "Taming requirement a value of 96.0
For the Triton, these are 2 different checks. You need 100 taming to open a statuette, but this is a safety measure put in place to prevent non-tamers from opening a Triton statue and then losing the pet by trying to issue commands (which would fail).
The actual taming required to control the pet is 96 (which if you had 96 taming/lore, you would have a 70% chance to successfully control it vs a 94% chance to control it at 100/100 taming lore), which goes back to the safety measure above. They didn't want people to instantly lose their tritons after claiming them.

Vollems are beasts but you just can't ride them.
