Tripping in Nostalgia
I am leaving my home state of Hawaii - for good... taking only 3 suitcases and my laptop.
That means going through all my stuff, figuring out what to keep, what to purge.
My McFarlane UO figure set went to another collector (an avid UO player here in Hawaii) and I've prepaid my accounts for a while. My Hildebrandt special edition dragon sculpture is going to be shipped (is a sculpture based on the classic red dragon of UO, made and authenticated by the Hildebrandt brothers) as it is one of my most prized possessions.
Then I tackle the one place I dread... The Closet.
It is a closet full of my computer stuff; it is a LARGE closet. I sifted through tons of programming books, binders with programming notes, SyQuest, ZIP and JAZ discs (yes, they still exist), all sorts of DVDs, CDs, and tapes. Volumes of game guides (even had an Everquest guide in there). Swag from Blizzard, Lionhead, Square Enix... Yes, I am a geek.
Then - I find a box on the top shelf, shoved in the back - it is labeled "MY PRECIOUS!"
Within....
And there is more... but the bugs and silverfish had gotten to them. UGH!
There are several cloth maps, two UO mousepads, a few other figures (including some Ral Partha Pewter items), and then I find this in the bottom:
Mind blown. I totally forgot about this! I'm just like... wow.... omg.... I don't even have a way to load floppies anymore! Do they sell external floppy drives with USB connectivity so I can tweak out my laptop and once again play this game?!
I am hoping to find room in my suitcases for this... I could probably ship it - but then... well... I dunno. I made a commitment to myself to purge... but...
my preciousssssssss..
Anyway... what do YOU guys have in your closets?

I think you can download all the Ultima games from the Origin store. Check there. Theoretically the floppy's magnetic field should have decreased to an unusable state. But yours is actual not theory. All my old music cassettes did not play when I found them in a closet.
LOL my wife and I take 4 suitcases plus carry ons for a week long vacation to a beach.
You can now legally buy Martian Dream and Savage Empire on gog.com and other similar online “shops”.
PS - Bon Voyage!
I.
Sometimes I wish I can just "drop" the house and let everything sit there for my neighbors to pick through!! LOL!! Would make a moving sale so much easier! I realized last night as I sifted through yet another bin... my RL house is very much like my castle in Yew.... so much stuff in bins and chests.

I'm not brave enough to do anything like that.
Safe Travels and Good Luck!
Make sure you visit Boulder City/Lake Mead. Its about 30 minutes south. Absolutely beautiful with little of the Vegas hustle.
Hoover Dam is around there too. I enjoy seeing things like that and the different architecture.

Vegas is colder than my previous visits (in 2000 and again in 2011) so my fingers are stiff and my knee is complaining. I am currently hunting transportation, and exploring opportunities here. Vegas is a lot bigger than I remember... my cousin's house is in an area that was complete desert the last time I was here!
Logged in and checked my castles and vendors - all is well.
@Urge - not much of the casino type myself, although I do like shows. My cousin & her man work at different casinos so meh. I'm not that type of gamer anyway.
@Lord_Nabin - I'll send you a way to ping me.. not on ICQ anymore and have cleared a lot of other chat stuffs most notably used by gamers. Really purging a lot from my life, I feel lighter for some reason.
@Dizzy - message me if you really thinking of heading that way, I can give you some pointers and such. Don't get me wrong, I my home! But am just so burned out from limited everything.

Vegas not for me. Too dry, too dirty (in more ways than one), too.... much. Great place to visit, see some shows, visit with a certain Kingdom... but not where my roots are able to dig in.
Speedy (NOT!) Grayhound across the country - damn, I forgot how BIG everything is!
Am now in the mid-atlantic region - so green, so pretty, so full of SPRINGTIME! My fave time of year! Am thinking my roots are liking the soil here.
@Pawain - Me, a 50 y/o gramma purging bad stuff from her life and seeking what we all are - a place to simply BE. I am lucky enough to have resources and good people all over the country upon which I can surf couches (in style). Done this quite a few times in my life.

Glad you are liking your new place! Ill be in Vegas for a week this July. A week every 25 years is enough for me.
