Need fix for lag in cities

Looking for a fix for the lag in the cities. Event is half over... can we get something please??? This weekend was the worst it's been since all the 24/7 sampire bots the devs ignore are continuing to multiply.

(this post applies to Atlantic not your dead shard so keep that in mind before you reply)

Seriously, could the "War Against Third Party Clients" have been any more of a resounding defeat for Broadsword? All they managed to do is prove that on a technical level they can't even slow the botters down for more than a couple of days, and that they'll never ban paid accounts for botting no matter how blatant it is.

As far as I can tell it looks like the TOS has fallen. As long as you're paying a subscription you can do whatever the hell you want. Maybe the forum mods here force us to pretend the TOS still exists by not letting us call the cheat client by name, etc, but out in the game it's a dead letter.

I have to agree here.  Watching 2-3 toons running around together in clumps while I'm lagging on my 500mbit connection is frustrating.  I mean if you wanted to find the cheaters - you KNOW what town they are in - its the invasion town.  Come by later at night when the GM's have gone to bed and its bot city.

    Really, this again?

EDIT:  I would like to point out that the fixes for your shard impacts everyone else.  We will respond as we see fit.

I am sorry to hear that the lag on your dead shard is as bad as on Atlantic.

    It's an Atlantic problem.
    Don't care.

If you do move to another shard.

If you don't care, you don't have to post. Please spare people playing the real game your dead shard inferiority complex.

    See previous response.

we all know it’s from Bots.  So unless they fix that you’re going to have lag.

It’s cute that you think you’re playing a “real game”.

You’re playing the same game, your shard just happens to have the most cheaters.

Sure, sure, your ghost shard with no crowd, no activity, and nothing for sale is just as good and valid as mine. After all, you've got that good ol' fashioned UO spirit, and isn't that what really counts? Nine out of ten tumbleweeds agree.

Yeah bud, keep coping with the rampant cheating on your shard.  I’m sure something will happen soon.

Why do you think it's only an ATL problem?
What do you think is causing that lag?
So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

Leave attended paying accounts alone, these people go thru a lot of trouble to play/automate the game.

I would imagine it had something to do with him specifically stating it’s an Atlantic problem in the original post.

That and the lack of 30 threads from other shards about lag is also a good indicator.

    There was two question.

Personally the few i've been able to enjoy on Legends.. a pretty dead shard all it took to have roll back and mobs not showing up on screen was ~12 frame skipper in NuJel'm and Trinsic. (at that moment ~85% bots and ~15% protection)

I'd still really appreciate if @tim himself would answer both questions.
Edit:(trust me it's gonna be good)

Sure but I’m guessing his answer will be the same.

But to answer the second question, the massive amount of bots on Atlantic are causing the lag.

The lag cleared when those using the Other client couldn’t log into it.  Their words not
    mine.

Not only that.. on Legends all the frame skipper Superman were GONE from Felucca.. was looking great for the PvP/Champ Spawn scene.. i'd call for necro boss on Fel like I used to on day 1.. Tram user had 0 fear to take that red gate.. was fabulous!

Only for 2 days tho... cuz failures happen.

Fun fact.. the very first day it came back u had Cookie (I was challenging his kin to PvP when it was down) He was acting like he'd move on Legends to PvP. ^^

Because it's not a problem on Pac even when the spawn is being heavily farmed.
On a wild guess probably a combination of population (not just at the spawn) and all the illegal programs spamming the servers.

I think people who acutely want to play rather than just say the "won" because or how many plat. their bots got them don't play on Atlantic.

Feel free to go back to the “real shard” and enjoy the lag fest created by all those Bots.

Us “ghost shards” will keep sitting back and watching the tears roll down as you guys start another dozen threads about how you can’t play because it’s too laggy and unplayable.

But at least you can still buy stuff right?  When vendor search works that is.

Bots are only botting because Atlantic players are paying them real money...

Keep telling the two dogs and a magpie at the bank how happy you are to not have any players around causing trouble. You guys should each just set up your own personal freeshard instances without connecting them to the internet, then you'd never have any lag at all.

I wished that players stopped spending real money for UO gold or items...and, if their obtainance in the game was not so much time consuming and requiring so much grinding, I imagine that a lot of players would just get them in the game, rather then spending their real money to get them...

So, to my opinion, the problem is all the grinding and the time it takes to get items and lots of gold due to inflation in the game (to purchase an expensive in-game House or an expensive high end item) that might motivate some UO players to prefer spending their real money to get items and gold in the game rather then get them just playing...

Make items and gold more readily available, and, to my opinion, much less UO players will want to spend their real money to get them, they will just play the game and get them playing.

That is at least how I see it.

I agree, the only reason they are botting is due to economy and profit

All BS really need to do is sell items in the UO Store that these people are potentially either monopolising or selling for real world money

Surely it cant be that hard to work out how much money they would lose by stopping these accounts and offset that against adding items to the UO Store to fill the gap.

I would happily spend more money in the UO Store if there were actually items that i wanted to buy. The Store has a pretty crappy selection of items, they are missing a massive trick here and allowing players themselves to get this profit that they could easily be making themselves

Simply add more stuff to the UO store, and it doesnt have to be OP BIS stuff, vanity stuff works just as well, house DECO etc etc that doesnt have an impact on the game

Perhaps Atlantic also needs to have it's hardware migrated?

    https://uo.com/2024/11/11/hotfix-deployment-origin-server-migration/

    https://uo.com/2024/11/05/test-center-1-server-migration/

Maybe another "targeted" ban wave like what has been rumored in the cheater discords on Arirang and/or other Asian shards? Shouldn't be too hard to identify the 40 sampires ran off 1 ip (if not VPN'd...  likely VPN'd) that are at the ToTs being multiboxed 24/7 afk.

Some generic event improvements? @Kyronix if you look closely you can sometimes catch the monsters that spawn with a gold pile below them for a brief split second. It would appear, despite them not leaving corpses, the base non-paragon monsters are still generating loot upon spawning. Maybe make templates for these base monsters that don't generate any loot? Also, quite often these base monsters are still dropping corpses, so if nothing else that needs to be fixed.

    Anything?

I went to the ToT just now on Atlantic, Moonglow, and it would appear all corpses are being left... in the northern party of the city anyhow.
