Rare Artifacts Rework: Time to Make Them Useful Again?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to open a discussion about something that’s been on my mind for a while: rare artifacts obtained from dungeons. While some are useful, many others are completely overlooked because their stats or properties feel outdated compared to the current game meta.

This makes me wonder: wouldn’t it be great if the developers updated or reworked these artifacts to make them relevant again? It could also encourage players to revisit certain dungeons that currently lack appeal.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions!

  • I'd like to see old minor and major artifacts become components for newer artifact recipes. Kinda like the revamped doom arties. We need more recipes along the lines like Hat of the Magi to Scholars Halo.

Devs wouldn't have to add a whole lot content to keep current content appealing.

It would be even cooler if they added new recipes without saying anything. Let the player base stumble across it.

Not that I think they will do this,  but if yall came up with the total Stats for a specific suit maybe they would.  My fave is the woodland suit. Very Spiderman looking.  Make it a mage suit.

What about those of us with all the suits, would we get retractive stats or would we have to collect them again?

  • I'm like 99.9% sure there's no way to audit an entire shard for instances of a particular item and then edit those items in place. At least not for any sane amount of effort. There have been too many times in the past where such an ability would have come in handy.

Me, I'd like to see some new paragon artifacts. Maybe some slayer weapons with reasonable stats, but base types that are a little off-meta. Workhorse items for non-powergaming types who can't afford to shell out for a full set of crafted bladed staffs or whatever.

I personally think the old drops should remain the same. I agree with making more recipes to turn old doom arties into something more useful. Also, I agree making more useful paragon rewards would be nice.

@Pawain I think generating stats for a new item for the devs is a good idea.

Well I misread this and thought the OP meant the suits we can get.  Because that is something I think of.
OMG do yall realize how many items there are that we can get from Mobs, encounters, whatever.

    Where would they begin?

Look how many armor/weapon/jewels are in the High seas.

My floors look like this, I keep them when I get them.

Which of the hundreds of items would the devs begin with?

If you updated the dark father/doom rewards, void pool, and/or the community collection rewards it would add two areas of gameplay. Seems like an easy way to add things to do without much effort. I’d love to run some doom runs again but for what? Who uses any reward from down there?

While you are at it kill that joke of an event in Trammel Despise and give us our training dungeon back. No better place to train a 50-90 swordsman than old despise.  The current event is never being used.  Ever.

You could also add the current event drops to the community event award table. Even if people buy with gold it’s a huge gold sink.

Allow people to turn in drops from any old event for 1 point and doom drops and the like for points.  Moulding Ursine for 200pts just like the event. 1 point cost 1m gold.  Can buy for 200m or turn in some junk.  Always obtainable by new players.

The problem is the theme park route they pick with those heretic Best In Slot entire suit.

Wich mean the problem ain't the items anymore but the balance.. they need hard/soft cap all around the board.

with a good system intensity on your entire suit would be cap.. wich could bring back the sandbox.. the itemization under BS is like if u could train all the skill to GM and/or Legendary.. people would cry some skill are better than others.. I mean no shit.. the problem ain't the skill but the unlimited BIS balance.
So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

Leave attended paying accounts alone, these people go thru a lot of trouble to play/automate the game.

What you need to realise, is everything you say, has been said by me, 20 years ago.

    With the same passion.

I completely agree with the concept.

I have asked for it a million times.

They have said, it is not easy for them to do, so they chose to do what they are doing.

But then I was also told, Classic Client cannot be upgraded.
