Frost mite not vulnerable to beetle slayer

Even though the Frost Mite (Body 1424) corpse says "Beetle", it is not vulnerable to the beetle slayer.

This probably gives the pet a advantage in PVP, since it may be slower to dispatch.

Technically, mites are arachnids with 8 legs, beetles are hexapods with 6 legs. As such, mites should be subject to arachnid slayer rather than beetle slayer. (Are frost mites subject to arachnid slayer?)

Arachnids and beetles aren't really that close on the ol' family tree.

No, I did not spend time researching this just because of this post, or because people brought it up a year ago during the Tokuno Treasures event. I'm not that much of a dork. I built my own Arachnid based ToT event in a spreadsheet about 6 months ago, after I finished my own Undead ToT event spreadsheet. Wait...

The real problem here is that the frost "mite" is using the beetle model and therefore only has six legs.

Since Frost Mites were introduced with Publish 97, and Kyronix was the lead designer at that time, this one is all on him. (Working up a new model is probably a bit more expensive than slapping a name on something relatively close and getting the creature in game, so we could give him a break...nah!)

I would suspect Big K is well aware they are using a 6-legged model for a "Mite" and that is why he is opposed to putting the "mites" under beetle slayer.

'Course, Sosarian mites could have 6-legged varieties...or maybe their front legs are considered delicacies by Frost Dragons in the same way humans desire King Crab, and only those "Mites" with small front legs have survived into present day Sosaria. The Chuckster was right! Evolution by Natural Selection lives!
