    the REAL gem is to get one thats not brittle, but good luck with that.

    The mods on it = less money 
    A 30 splinter bokuto with the right mods =$$$$$$

    The weapons specials are AI and bleed. Good combo for splintering and pvp id think

    AI yes, bleed not so much.    Splintering weapon essentially gives you bleed for free.
    Remove or change casting focus & poison immunity it reduces the need for "Player Skill" it's garbage. rant2 Bring timing back and eliminate chance in pvp!

    Ok. Im not a big pvper, so what should i look for in the weapon as i farm? Like top things

    Splinter 20 minimum 
    Hit lightning as high as possible 
    Hld as high as possible 
    Spell channeling nice but not a deal breaker 

    Go to Stratics and see what sells there

    "Clean" (No negative properties) or "Prized" are preferred, so they can be PoF'd - since splintering weapon takes ~10 durability each time it goes off.

    Splintering Weapon  20-30%
    Hit Lightening or Harm 50-70%  (Fireball is ok, but lightening/harm for Bokutos)
    Hit Lower Defense 50-70%
    -
    Spell-Channeling
    -1 Fc (worth more without -1 FC)
    -
    Damage Increase +
    Swing Speed Increase+
    -

    Hit Area will reduce the item's value as well, as it will often flag you to different targets and may subject you to guardwhacks (if you're red) etc.

    Weapon specials (pvp)

    Nerve Strike (bokuto only)
    Armor Ignore
    Riding Swipe/Dismount  (RS - No-dachi only)
    Disarm
    ---
    Infectious Strike
    Double Strike
    Crushing Blow
    Concussion Blow

    Also  % Elemental damage, mostly  Poison or Cold.
