Governor Borganne signed his name with a flourish and handed his resignation letter to a trusted aid to be delivered to the "King".
He didn't look back as he left the governor's office, but did pick up a handful of dirt and a few pebbles from his beloved town as he headed into the mountains for a long needed spiritual retreat at a remote monastery.
