Burned through 25 charges of smelly with 0 stone crab 120 fishing wearing bait suit does anyone successfully use ? I know it's a low sample rate but hoped to get at least 1..
First thought, since they stack to 100+. They probably have a low % chance.
Doing a search yields:
Bait : Using bait a player will have 1-3% chance per cast of catching the fish. Without bait, the odds for the rare fish are lower, less than 1%, unless you find a school of magical fish (see: Magical Fish Finder).
So you just need 80 more baits! Happy fishing!
If you wear the Fisherman's Armor, you get 50% increased chance! So that puts you up to 1.5% to 4.5% per cast. So mathematically speaking, one more cast and you could have got 1!

So you have to consider that they designed it so that one bait reward would give you odds to get that fish. With a suit, you do have the odds to get one of the fish.
I think the devs of UO drop/reward coding did a lot of Casino gambling. They copied the Bank odds for their rewards. Me thinks they were the angry losers when gambling so they take it out on us.
There are few fish pies on VS because: 1. They are not very good. IMO they do not last long enough. 2. Since they are not very good, few know about them.
I do use Koi Pie for the 8 DCI increase in dungeon events on one of my toons.
Or if you mean bait on VS. It is because they are all in someone's container at home. I do not use it but I have many stored away...

I predict a novel about this subject soon.
Well, such a difficulty is meaningless to those UO players who enjoy automated scripting.... who knows, perhaps some who do it with unauthorized Third Party utilities and even AFK.... as with other things in UO, often the penalized by game mechanics are the players who play by the rules, not those who find "creative" ways of playing UO....
If you catch one of these fish, You have a trophy with your name on it. Or you cut it up and can made 20 to 100 fish pies for one catch.
I collect fish trophies for one of my houses, the only ones with my toons name are Mud Puppy and Red Herring.
If you have any extra fish or trophies I'll take one.
This is mainly why I don't have any interest in fishing for rare fish; most don't actually provide any benefit once you do catch them aside from trophy/decoration purposes. I agree that the fish pies (for the fish that actually have them) don't really last long to warrant all the time it takes to acquire the fish.
I can't even imagine the time it takes to create a pie if you count from square one of fishing and then doing fish monger quests to get bait and then eventually getting the bait you need and then using it to successfully catch whatever you are looking for to make it a pie. All for what, 5 minutes of +5 SDI? I'd much rather just take an hour to do a full run of shadowguard to have a chance at a cameo; which gives quite a few other consolation prizes which inlcude some pretty good loot.

This. I think a ton of Buffs ingame need a complete review as the Shortness of their times make them completely worthless from a playability perspective. It could actually be an easy win for the Devs - review all the Buff durations - increase a ton of them to make it worthwhile for more players to engage in that content. Show me the Buffs - and I'll give an opinion on how long I think they should last for.
The most worthwhile buffs in game, I think, are those from the stealable balms and lotions which last 30 minutes. I have vast quantities of the magical fish buff items, which annoyingly don't stack, though they only last 3 minutes. Pies fall somewhat in the middle of that. I have used them, but I tend to forget that I have them with me.

Way off base here @popps no one is scripting anything fishing no profit in it
Since you can only have one of the buffs, I do not think allowing the buffs to last 30min to an hour is over powering. I think the buffs amount is ok, the time is the issue. (But I just use the +8DCI)
The ingredients to make them not stacking is unpleasant.
Crabs and lobsters are a little different when going for rare or legendary examples. Rares are not hard at all, for Stone crab, grab 50 traps, place them in the lost lands sea, and give them at least six minutes. You will lose many traps, but should get a few. Legendary, I let soak 10 to 12 minutes, and the lost trap rate is huge.

I would not be so sure.... there is Ships out there set on slow forward which keep sailing on a straight line and the character on board fishing and fishing.... Deep Water fish as well as named crabs and lobsters have a market and sell on VS.... not to mention, that Fisherman Powerscrolls sell quite well and they do need Deep Water and named Crabs and Lobsters to fill up the Fishmonger's Quests orders...
So, scripters script to gather the Deep Water fish as well as the named Crabs and Lobsters and then either sell these and/or sell the Fishing Powerscrolls which they get..... for good gold.....
Popps, Once again you prove you do not know what you are talking about,
Please answer the following questions WITHOUT LOOKING UP THE ANSWERS, OR GOING INTO HIDING
1. Do you have a 120 fisherman? 2. how many 120 scrolls have you been rewarded with?, NOT BOUGHT 3. how many points are needed for the chance of a 120 scroll? 4. MOST IMPORTANT. How did you get the above from inshore fishing? 5. How did you gain the necessary reputation to even be able to get a high point, large order for your 120 scroll?
Once again, you are trolling posts with your complete lack of knowledge which I can only surmise to create drama or to gain more post counts
Mariah, Popps seems to want to highjack and derail yet another post with complete nonsense.
Of course, I will be accused of personal attacks again.........

I do not even know why I am replying to the questions asked as I usually try to avoid it when asked these kind of questions which are not about the game but about me playing the game, but oh well....
Mind you, these are only some of the 120 Fishing Powerscrolls that I got, some I sold in the past and one I gave it to a friend time back. And I left out from the picture all of the Lava stuff, the books etc. which I still got over time doing lots and lots of Fishmonger Quests....
Inshore fishing ? I said "Deep" Sea fishing and I mentioned Ships set on "slow forward" with the character onboard scripting the fishing in "deep" waters.... and, there are places where it is also possible to script Dungeon fish catching as well as named Crabs and named Lobsters fishing, of course, using unauthorized Third Party utilities which make available to the player particularly complex scripts....
How many points for a 120 Fishing Powerscroll ? How about over 210 points ?
Fishmonger reputation is gained fullfilling the Fishmongers requests which need fish, named crabs and named lobsters to be fullfilled which, was my point, "can " be scripted to be gotten....
And I do not see how, considering that this thread is about fishing and fish baits, talking about fishing issues could be derailing the thread....

You derailed it by having no opinion on bait working and starting a monolog on scripters

Many different buffs but they are all only last 5min (300 seconds).

There are a few fishing/bait/trap scripts out. Idk what all they do cause fishing kind of bores me.
