Trade run monsters question

Are they stronger than normal?  I just spent 15 minutes trying to provo them with my 4x 120 bard with no luck

    Correct ... trade run ambushers are considerably stronger - almost paragon like? - than regular monsters. It has always been this way.

    You kill those?  You provoke minions.
