I don't believe a container for every consumable would be practical. Bandages are rather essential, orange petals less so. To avoid being completely deprived of your petals by looting mobs keep them in more than one stack.

to be on the safe side, I would invest in a High Seas ship. If you don't want to travel to Sea Market to buy you can purchase a Tokuno boat in Zento. (which also gives a small bonus to fishing)

I am not sure what causes the 'not in that location' message, but it is not confined to gift of life, tamers get it too. I think it is sometimes when the pet is too close to the mob that killed it, sometimes I've got it when I recalled to a location…
