Your PVM template doesn't take much skill.

So there's a pattern I've noticed on this forum.

Them: Sampires don't require any skill!

Me: Of course not, this is pretty much the simplest PVM game on the market. Is there something you think does require skill?

Them: Yes for example (some incredibly basic thing)

Newsflash for elderly people who haven't played any other MMO in the last quarter century, other games have things like dodging, blocking, counters, crowd control, interrupts, aggro management, bosses with multiple phases and mechanics, and developers with "encounter design" in their job titles.

Kiting some peerless around while it robotically waddles forward casting random spells isn't a feat of skill anyone who's played more than one game in twenty years would care about. Having to move over to AOE some trash before going back to your main target isn't interesting gameplay. That's an average farming run in Diablo 2 or something.

By way of comparison, here's an old guide on how to beat the Lich King in Warcraft on the easier of his two difficulty settings, and here's a DPS rotation cheat sheet for Final Fantasy 14. Imagine trying to explain how complex and skillful some dopey UO fight is to whoever wrote either of those. I bet they'd just be ever so impressed that sometimes your mage fizzles spells and you have to cast them again, or whatever.

In conclusion, I know a lot of you guys are out of touch, but stop trying to flex about skill in a game this devoid of complex mechanics. Some of us also dabble in modern games and it's making us cringe our internal organs out.

I get what u mean by modern games.. a game like Blade and Soul to PvP on an assassin (ninja class) could take 7-9month to "master" you had many type of way to play it with different combo (u needed to adapt those said combo depending on your opponent)

But yeah.. you are clearly a spoiled user (samp + third party) to say such thing.. UO was always about resources management, timing and positioning.. nothing compare to high skill game like BnS.. but the game was clearly not a walk in the park.. but yeah..

I can give u reason for the simple fact the design team totally gave up on trying to balance the game (instead they just spoil and bribe y'all) and most PvE is a walk in the park and the people PvPing are mostly doing automated action while frame skipping/cheating.. and for that I agree.. even a monkey could be a top tier UO players in 2024; with enough banana motivation.. just look how bots are fighting.. they enter a frenzy and chase u down. (or they chase their own red owner when u have a more clever opponent messing with them)

Peronally was having a blast on the weak dexer during those invasion (before i realised those were specifically made for botters/BS affiliates).. I got cornered more than once.. I F'ing love collision game with resource management and theorycrafting.
So rather than recognise the effort the botters went to, to set all that up - for the benefit of the players, to help get certain items, something you could never be bothered to do, you would rather drag people backwards to your neanderthal world?

Your crafter template doesn't take any skill at all, unlike my sampire template!

Sampires are the peak Ultima Online experience. They can only really be played by people with decades of cumulative experience and game knowledge. It's not a simple as allocating 100 skill points into Necromancy, casting vampiric embrace for it's life leech, and then aoeing a baker's dozen of monsters, as you would have everyone believe. You have to know how to cast Consecrate Weapon just as it's about to fall off, so you can target the lowest resistance of monsters for the optimal amount of damage, it's about knowing when to use the highest skill cap cooldown in the game... EVASION. There is so much nuance to playing a sampire that you just wouldn't understand. Please stay in your lane and let the real heroes defend the cities while you craft long pants and cloaks for a tree and a boss that, HEY SURPRISE SURPRISE we'll have to kill for you too!

You're VERY wrong.. once more! You'd ask for more of me!
You tho.. sound like a VERY boring person to party with.. we gonna end up playing UNO & drinking kool-aid.

@gay back when the sappire could still die (on foot/wraith form) pre-SA itemization.. first off very little people knew how to do a sappire (the protection/curse weapon; somehow not many players thought about it)
The problem with the build was the entry fees.. it was hard to gear a good sappire.. today it's harder to skill up than gear up and they made the skill up; real easy/way faster.

    I don't know what a sappire is.

In this thread we're talking about sampires, this is quite the corundum you've found yourself in.

Dude even after googling corundum.. i still don't get it..

Sappire is the originelle Mother f'ing SAMPIRE..
I was getting bored of calling my necro warrior a necro warrior.. So i called him a SAPPIRE (sapping resources)
    Sapper was taken -.-
I was sapping to build an empire. ;)

I learn recently y'all was calling it a sampire (cuz u were SAPPING (s) with vampire form)

My question is.. if y'all do not calling SAMPIRE cuz of my originelle SAPPIRE (was rolling one in 04 on LS.. even BEFORE Samurai Empire and Bushido skill)

Why that name Sampire? should be your question (that sssss)  ;)

edit: before Samurai Empire and the hall #2 fight.. without bushido i would aggro a DF in room 5 hit n run.. when too much spawn.. lure him in room 4.. etc etc.. was the only way i could solo one with a wraith form/ curse weapon.. without 2 hander + bushido.. i couldn't sit and stand in a corner taking the heat alone.. it was way harder to solo DF on a sappire before SE launch with bushido skill.

Fun fact.. before doing a Sappire/wraith form.. I try REAL hard to do the same sustain toon with the horrific beast.. then a lich form+curse weapon (for infinite mana)
To figure out Wraith form was leeching mana + curse weapon this was 24% mana and 50% life (u needed 120 SS tho and can't use resist spell and u need protection)

who is really beating the game?
easy.. Sampires and Tamers are steam rolling the PvE game.

Meanwhile, cheaters like you killing the game.

Edit: the thing is.. nothing wrong with an easy mode template (even if imo they could nerf both)
Unlike what you're doing.. wich is VERY wrong.. "recognize the effort the botters went to"
Pretty sure your bots ("sons") are grinding as we speak.

This guy thinks he invented the sampire.

What next, you call a whammy a whammer because wapper was taken?

Did you invent the original vamp form mage too? What about the wraith form mounted vamp form mage?

    We got a legend here!

I am grinding, they are watching I'm a celebrity, they need their down-time. :)
Thing is, they work really hard, need to help them keep life balance, which does not include too much UO - unlike me, who has completed most of life, and needs the rest, and to switch off from work etc.

It's a fact tho.. I was soloing DF before SE on a "necro warrior/ SAPPIRE"

I was the only one with that build on LS.. I had a couple thief gooning when they would see me soloing DF's.

A Legend would have make horrific beast work and use lich form for more than crafting scrolls -.-

My claim to fame was my 4/6 chivalry messing up with reds on Fel.. not from theorycrafting a PvE template to solo big boss..the dumbest part about bushido was on top of making it more effective it was giving 1k luck and u could even neglect HitChance.. after that i could trap myself next to a pillar in hall of room #2 and take DF's without moving and dying once every ~4 DF's when he would pop a dbl oath.

@gay answer the question tho.. why y'all calling this SSSSSampire.. if it's not cuz of my originelle SAPPIRE; now using vampire form? (cuz of heretic items and poo poo balance/hardcap)

Edit: my red necro archer was using vampiric for the extra mana regen.. I had no meditation.. now y'all doing the opposite.. vampire sappire and wraith PvE archer

Your claim to fame was one of the easiest bosses? Bud we had people soloing DF with a tamer and five hell hounds in the door in their spare time. That's like saying people lucky enough to have pre-patched double slayer bows hitting the DF for 800 damage a pop invented the chiv archer. lol

Apparently LS was the only server in game where nobody understood "Hit X Leech" mechanics. Except for you, of course.

That was a good laugh though, thanks.

You want to know what your biggest single problem is?

You think you can read, and understand people, and you cannot.

Every single assumption you make about most posters, is completely wrong.

I truly do not know how someone can get so deluded that they think they know everything that is going on, and are so good at reading people, but are so far off the mark every single time, It's quite a wonder watching you in action. :)

I can only assume you have very limited life experience, maybe you were locked indoors during Covid or something for 3 years.

Now that I think about it, I don't remember any guilds on LS putting up any real fights during the world tours. I don't even remember LS being a server of contention. I guess everyone on LS was still too busy figuring out how to farm doom at that point.

@Cookie unlike me u can read people very well, how do u know all that about me? You red me like an open book! i'm amazed!

Meanwhile, for other people reading.. I do not think he came at me with a tons of insecurity cause by this:

He legit edited it 10+ times for the past hour, trying to change the approach; to avoid acknowledging the sharp reply.. to end up just deleting the whole thing..

He was taunting nythrax.. saying he had a TONS of artifacts using a fleet of throwers meanwhile with his easy push to win sampire nythrax had none.. He was like: so who is really winning?

Again your assumption is incorrect, well done!

I was replying to Nythrax, and did not realise I went into edit mode on my previous post.

I ended up editing it so much, I completely lost my post, which I am gutted about, but it was too good to be able to replicate. :(

You legit love making up stories, I have to applaud you for your tenacity.

Most people find it draining, but I love the tenacity, keep it up. :)

    My real question.
    We talk about people's agenda's.

You, Lord Nythrax, Username - what are your agenda's?

It's really interesting the constant stream of negativity for no reason.

    Who are you working for?
The purpose is to take UO down, clearly, but what is the motivation?
    Whose interests?

Once more, u prove me right.. Lake Superior was THE server u wanted to be for PvP.. the most toxic PvPers; YEW gate was LS.. by ~2004-05 the PvP started to die when NBK disolve and britanian electric company was formed.. this was the end of LS imo.. people started moving to other shard.. GL and ATL become the place u wanted to be.. so I went on Legends ^^
