Is there any workaround for this bug?

I am starting this thread because I've read the other threads about it from years ago and didn't want to necro anything.

It seems to pretty much end in a moot point but its a major problem for me right now.

I started a guild to help retain new players that were feeling lonely, and because they joined the guild they now can not only attack each other accidentally, but also all guild pets (and their own which is most annoying).

So just because I'm trying to do something nice for some players, I now can war my own pet and all my guildmembers, which do show up as "friendly" when I ctrl-tab to find next friendly... if they are friendly why can I accidentally attack them?

Please tell me there is a workaround to fix this... I don't really care if its considered a bug or not.

And please don't tell me to disband my guild...

Party all of them. Its a lot of fun at Primeval Spawn. Pets attacking each other, pets attacking owners, pets attacking other players. I wear a costume of one of the Mobs there and cause some chaos. Area spell pets love to aggro things.

yeah but I can't party my pets! and what about an alliance? worse!

Like this is major annoying, to the point I think a guild is a bad idea... but then we have no way to add friends so how can I easily contact them.

It says prevent from attacking friendlies here, I just want what is stated, stop me from attacking friendlies.

So I assume that means no workaround?

Even if some are not in the guild, it happens. Invis the targets of pet attacks, invis the pets. Keep killing. Some of you will be grey at times.

So that conversation ended with devs saying "sorry we can't reproduce it". Just start a guild, then just attack your pet?

    I'm sorry I don't get it.

I mean I can deal with the random d/c and the crashes and all the other times I die because old tech. But I cannot handle that the sole reason for this to happen is because I started a guild to help people. We die enough as it is... we don't need my pet to be the number 1 killer of my guild mates.

Call us noobs, I don't mind...

If the game would think those people are neutral ok, I can understand, but if I ask it to find closest friendly, it does, so it knows its friendly. Guild members by default are friendly.

You start a guild to have friendlies, not people you can randomly kill with your pet or if they misclick while looting they still get killed by my pet because I have no time to react.

If the game was perfect without lag I could deal with it, reluctantly... but this is game breaking for me right now and I'm just puzzled by the fact the topic died like that.

There are a (cough) few (open) "suggestions" and other "requests" in the bug subforum.

    1. Avoid using the targeting cursor wherever possible. This is more straightforward in EC.
    2. Avoid selecting other mobiles - don't click on them - wherever possible.
    3. Enable the mobiles gray, red, blue, and green separate dockspots in EC (right click "mobiles").
    4. For hostiles, use the "target nearest enemy", "target next enemy", "actions->targeting" items, and use these as part of generic targeting macros.

For instance, for a pet, create a macro of the following actions: (targeting) TargetNearistEnemy, (communication) whisper "all kill", (CursorTargeting) WaitForTarg, CursorTargetCurrent. I have that assigned to numeric keypad "8".

The Notifications are funny. Lord Doom was killed by Fluffy.

haha Pawain you do love pure chaos !! :D

yeah I'm an old monkey, I do get used to the new targeting system but I can't help myself not clicking all over the place, old habits die hard I guess.

But still, there are a lot of problems with these solutions. Target next enemy can target my guildmate's summon... sometimes it glitches then I try to tab next hostile and it take a rabbit I'm like whyyyyy. Its so aggravating, can't use old targeting properly, can't use new one too well either.

I would think its not a hard fix, to just block attack on friendlies. Since they're already filtered as such by the new targetting system... the dock sometimes work fine, sometimes just overwhelming.

    But yeah I guess I'll manage. ._.

    Thanks for the tips ForeverFun
